Description:
explorer.exe is the Microsoft Windows Program Manager, sometimes called the Windows Explorer. This process maintains your Start bar, Start menu, Explorer windows, Task bar, Desktop and most other graphical elements that are considered part of the Windows Operating System. Without this process, your system will not function and you will not be able to use Windows. Do not terminate this process, it is essential to the operation of your system.
Some Trojans and other malware disguise themselves with this name. Once hidden they then steal information from your computer and pose a major security to risk. If you have one of these versions of the process running, it must be terminated as soon as possible. To determine if you have the legitimate Windows process or the Trojan process you will have to know where on your computer the original file is stored. This is best done with Bug Doctor.
Recommendation for explorer.exe:
This process should never be disabled or stopped, as it is necessary for certain applications to perform correctly. Increase your computer speed drastically with the Bug Doctor
